Request denied

I got a comment on a blog post I did that prompted this post…

Remember that for the most part this blog is nothing more than random thoughts that make no sense anywhere else in life but here.  Most of it isn't about anything important...

The best thing about this little place is that it is mine… well, kind of but you know what I mean.

If I write a blog post, it is perfectly ok for you to have an opinion about what I wrote but instead of taking the defense about something that may or may not pertain to you, you can make a decision.  That decision is to read or not read this blog.  I mean it’s social media, if you don’t like it feel free to stop being on social media or at least mine.

Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing people read this blog (Thank you!!) but it isn’t a complete necessity to life.  I barely have enough time to finish a post.  How can I expect you to read it all the time if I can’t consistently provide you with content?  I have drafts upon drafts that I have begun that I haven’t finished because I ran out of time or got busy.  I really do love seeing that someone read my randomness because I know that I’m not the only person who had that thought.

I do hope that aside from providing a bit of entertainment that if there is something that you don’t agree with that you can at least respect that someone has a different point of view than you.  I’m totally open to hearing other people’s opinions however it doesn’t mean that your opinion is necessarily right or wrong and neither is mine.  I also hope that if they don’t necessarily agree with my thoughts is openness to possibly see another point of view about why or how something happened.

Just remember that there are places to insert your decision and there are places that you shouldn’t.  If you are going to give your thoughts about a blog post that hasn’t requesting any be prepared to be denied.

That's Jared

So if you have been reading my posts you would know that my wedding ring broke back in December... Yes, December.  What month is this?  March?  Yes, yes it is March.  Where is my ring?  Well it is still in the "diamond room".  It's been in the "diamond room" since January at the very latest.

When I dropped of my ring they said six to eight weeks because it needed to be sent to the corporate office because I needed the diamond to be replaced.  Okay, that seems reasonable.  I'm a fairly reasonable person so that didn't seem like an outlandish amount of time for a ring to be in for repair especially because they needed to find a new diamond with specs like mine or better.

Of course they don't want to give me a better diamond.  We all know that.

Well, around nine weeks I started to call and ask about the status.  Everytime I call all I get is, "Your ring is still in the diamond room.  They still have not found a match.  We don't know how long it is going to take.  I'm sorry I have no more information."  Okay now I know that I have a diamond that is certified but let's be real, I don't have a seven carat, canary yellow, flawless diamond.  My diamond is around one carat nearly colorless and had a few flaws in it.  I'm sure it isn't that rare.

With that being said, I understand that it is a naturally occurring gem and that it may be hard to find an exact match because it isn't man made.

My calls have gotten me exactly no where.

My social media post did however get immediate attention!  It is so frustrating to me that we have to get all social media crazy to get results.  I know that companies don't want bad publicity and I really don't want to have to give you any but damn, for real, I got an email and a call within an hour of my post. Why can't I get that when I call?  You know actual human interaction.

It's really sad to me that if the public can't see your frustration then it's ok.  That you can call and complain and nothing happens but the second you put it out on social media that you are unhappy they are jumping through hoops to satisfy you and clean up their image.

Come on companies, just do your damn job and you won't have to do clean up!

The Liebster Award

Social media is a funny thing, it can be really bad or really good.  In this case it is really good because I've been nominated for The Liebster Award from Melissa of Posh Nails.  Woo hoo!!!  Thank you that is so very kind of you!!

What is The Liebster Award?  Well, the answer is that this is the internet and like the old game of telephone the rules aren't always clear.  I'm going to use the rules that Melissa used since she nominated me.  The rules from her blog are:
  • Thank and link the person who nominated me
  • Answer the questions given by the nominator
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers and link their blogs (I'm going to ignore this rule.  Sorry!)
  • Create 11 new questions for my nominees
  • Then notify everyone who's been nominated via social media
I think these are mostly do-able rules (I'll struggle a little with the 11 nominations but I believe in myself.  You can giggle now).  If you want to try to figure out which rules you think are right or official this link about sums it up.

I think this award is great because the internet is the vast place filled with what would seem like an over-saturation of people starting blogs, websites and YouTube channels.  I mean I have this tiny little blip on the internet where people read about my random brain dumps of whatever I feel like writing about and yet there are people who come and read it.  There are so many creative people in the world that just have gotten sucked into doing what they "are supposed" to do that I think it has stunted the creativity and imagination of who we can be.

I really love that this blog let's me be a tad bit creative because I know that I am a creative person but I realize that I am limited in what I am able to due because of other things.  Yes, I could be more creative now but I know that we all get the same amount of time it's just about how we split it up.  I look at time like a jar of marbles.  Like this...

Haha!!  Not these Marbles!  More like these...

Enough of the babbling, on to the real part of the post.  Here are the 11 questions from Melissa:

  1. What is your blog about and why did you start it?
  2. What’s your favorite vacation place?
  3. If you were stranded on a desert island, what’s the one thing you couldn't live without?
  4. Do you prefer to wear nail polish or not bother with it?
  5. List three values that are important to you in your family/life.
  6. What do you like about where you are living now?
  7. Tell me about one of your hobbies.
  8. What do you like to do for fun?
  9. Name one book that made a huge impact on your life.
  10. What kind of music do you like to listen to?
  11. How do you relax and unwind?
Answers:
1)  This blog is about whatever I want it to be.  I've been trying to figure out that question since I started.  It is a combination of random thoughts from my head, things I want my daughter to know, reminders to myself, encouragement and my life.  It is my place to be a creative outlet that doesn't require too much additional equipment other than my computer and some pictures.
2)  My favorite vacation place is any place with water.  I especially love the beach and clean sand but there is no one place that has been above and beyond the other places that I have been.  I have learned (and still have to remind myself) that I need to be in this moment.  I could tell you the best parts of many vacations so really just being with my favorite people is my favorite vacation place.
3)  My initial thought is to say water but I can find water so my next must have would be my family.  I N-E-E-D them.
4)  I love nail polish!  But... I can't paint my own nails.  When I do it it looks like a three year old did them (I'm sure there are three year-olds that can paint better than me).  I'm so bad that one of the very few times I did paint my own nails that my husband told me, "It's okay dear, you can pay someone to do that."  I just got fired from my own nails by my husband...
5)  Trust, faith and hard-work
6)  I love that I am close to family.  We aren't afraid to move away from them but right now, they are such a huge help that I don't know what I'd do without them.
7)  Photography.  It needs work but it is fun.
8)  This blog is becoming to be quite a bit of fun but I also like to find ways to be with my family that don't involve just being home.  Although we have quite a bit of fun there too.
9)  Oh the Places You Will Go! by Dr. Seuss

10)   I love R&B and Soul but really anything that's playing.
11)   Cooking is usually a time for me to relax and unwind.  I enjoy spending time in the kitchen creating things and who doesn't love food?!

My Husband Found My Blog

Ok, not really, he knew I was writing one but he didn't realize how often I was posting and that I've been fairly active on it (maybe not as active as other people but active for me!).  He's technically seen it before because I've asked him to look at things and tell me what he thinks.

He's quite computer savvy but not in the world of social media.  He's the guy that hasn't had a social media account since Friendster and MySpace were the biggest things out there. It kind of makes me laugh because if you look at my phone vs his phone, I've got a folder called "social media" filled with all my social media apps from Facebook to WeHeartIt.  He's got Stitcher Radio and Candy Crush.  We are total opposites when it comes to phone apps.

I'm not saying that I'm that active on all of those sites but I at least know if them and know how to use them.  My favorite social media site has to be Instagram.  I mean who doesn't love looking at pictures.  I'm almost disappointed that they have videos now because I just want to see pictures.

He did tell me that he was pretty impressed that there were people looking at my blog but then he asked who was looking at it... I don't know, I just know that there are at least a few people who are out there taking a look at it.  The internet is a funny place.  It is a nice place where you can be out there being who you really want to be but you can also be a complete fraud.  I'm not a fraud.  This is me just being me.

So darling husband if you read this, thank you!  I hope you at least enjoy the posts!  Love you!!
